Reverse description A reclining laureate river god (Danubius) occupies the lower left, leaning against rocks amid cattails, with a hammer at his side. The coat of arms of Romania appears on a shield to the lower right. In the background, the King Carol I railway bridge over the Danube is depicted in low relief with steam ships on the river and the town of Cernavodă visible. In the upper portion of the field, two winged mermaids are shown embracing and holding aloft a ribbon bearing part of the legend.
