| Obverse description | A richly detailed high-relief composition commemorating the sabotage of the Vemork heavy water plant. The field depicts the Rjukan industrial facility at left, paratroopers descending by parachute in the background, and Norwegian resistance soldiers on skis in the middle ground, alongside atomic particle symbols (e, p, n) referencing heavy water production. Two portrait busts of resistance officers appear at right. In the lower field, the ferry Hydro is shown in relief, with an actual glass vial containing heavy water inserted into a recessed capsule at the bottom of the medal. The legend KAMPEN OM TUNGTVANNET 1942-1944 curves along the right and lower rim, with the engraver's initials ES visible in the field. |
