| Obverse description | Truncated bust of Jan Baalsrud facing slightly left occupies the right portion of the field, with a detailed composite scene in the background depicting snowy Arctic mountains with a lone figure trudging through the snow, and an exploding vessel in the lower portion of the field. A combat knife is shown in relief at the bottom of the field. The engraver's initials 'ES' appear in small relief near the lower right. The legend arcs along the upper and right periphery. |
