Obverse description The obverse depicts a female allegorical figure in high relief, standing on a pedestal and raising both arms aloft, holding a banner in one hand and a stylized sputnik or satellite model in the other. Flanking her in the field are city landmarks of Kaluga, including an arched stone bridge and viaduct to the left and the domed State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics to the right. The legend КАЛУГА appears in Cyrillic in the lower portion of the field.
