Reverse description A large three-masted man-of-war under full sail navigates through rocky cliffs, flanked by two tall commemorative columns rising from the waves, evoking the Pillars of Hercules near Cape Matapan. A four-line Latin inscription in the exergue records the defeat and routing of the Turks by the Portuguese fleet in 1717, with the date appearing at the bottom of the exergue.
