Reverse description An allegorical seated female figure representing Religion, draped and turned slightly left, extends a chalice in her right hand and holds a cross in her left, her left arm resting upon a large oval heraldic escutcheon displaying the arms of Bavaria and the Palatinate, beside which the rampant Bavarian lion stands as supporter. In the background, the basilica of St. Peter in Rome rises on a rocky eminence, with a dove in flight above. A Latin legend encircles the upper field, and a two-line commemorative inscription with dedication appears in the exergue.
