In the foreground, two robed figures — one standing and one kneeling — are shown facing the entrance of the structure.

Reverse description The reverse bears the title legend MACHPELAH in large raised letters across a recessed band at the top of the field. Below, within a darkened recessed panel, a multi-line inscription in raised Latin letters fills the lower portion of the field, identifying the site as a burial place purchased by Abraham and listing the patriarchs and matriarchs interred there.
