Reverse description An eagle with spread wings, facing right with head turned left, is depicted chained at the neck and talons, the chains descending to a circular medallion bearing a hammer, sickle, and five-pointed star at the base. Stylised mountain peaks and the outlined contour of Romanian borders fill the background field. The legend ROMANIA IN VINCOLI and the date 1948 are distributed across the field.
