Obverse description The field features a composite relief of the principal historical landmarks of Beit She'an: a classical Ionic column capital to the left, the ruins of the Roman theatre in the center, the Tel in the background, and a menorah motif from the ancient synagogue mosaic to the upper right. The city name appears in Hebrew legend along the upper left rim and in Latin letters along the lower rim.

Reverse description The reverse features a raised replica of an ancient city-coin of Beit She'an (189 CE) set in a recessed central medallion, depicting a standing figure of Dionysus holding a thyrsus, with his sacred panther at his heel, flanked by the Greek legend 'NYCKIC ACYCMC'. The broad flat rim bears a bilingual inscription in Hebrew and Latin script identifying the piece and its date.
