Reverse description The field is divided into four diagonal quadrants by two crossed lines, each containing symbolic references to Newton's achievements: upper left a refracting telescope, upper right an apple suspended before a tree, lower left a terrestrial globe, and lower right an open manuscript with a pair of dividers. A small orrery or armillary sphere appears at centre left. Three legends naming Newton's disciplines are arranged around the periphery and lower field. The issuer's mark BCS and serial number 201970 appear in the lower left field.
