Obverse description The arms of Dieppe — a sailing ship on an oval shield — occupy the centre of the field, supported by two reclining mermaids, each holding a hand mirror, flanking the shield on either side. Above the shield, a winged cherub head with outstretched wings crowns the composition, while decorative scrollwork fills the base. The whole is contained within a beaded border.
