Obverse description A peat barge with raised sails passes through a canal beneath an open drawbridge, with two figures working on deck and city silhouettes visible in the background. Two heraldic shields flank the lower field, the left bearing three saltires (arms of Bergen op Zoom) and the right displaying a castle (arms of Breda).
