Obverse description The obverse features a high-relief scene depicting a Prohibition-era raid, with a central figure in a long coat and hat raising a bottle above a barrel, flanked by several other figures and additional barrels in the background. The legend PROHIBITION TAKES EFFECT arcs along the upper rim, and the date JANUARY 16, 1920 appears along the lower rim, both separated by small five-pointed stars. The engraver's initials JF appear in the lower field near the exergue.
