Obverse description The obverse features a high-relief scene depicting Samuel F. B. Morse seated at a telegraph instrument, flanked by two standing observers leaning in attentively. The circumferential legend reads MORSE PROVES TELEGRAPH TO CONGRESS, separated by four stars, with the date MAY 24, 1844 inscribed along the lower rim. A small engraver's mark is visible in the lower field below the central group.
