Obverse description A traditional diya (oil lamp) with a tri-pointed flame in high relief occupies the central field, set within a raised circular border. The surrounding field is densely decorated with an ornate mandala-like arrangement of lotus blossoms in relief, flanked by decorative pillar motifs at either side.

Reverse description The reverse depicts the Hindu deities Lakshmi, seated on a lotus flower at left holding lotus blossoms with coins spilling before her, and Ganesha at right holding his attributes and accompanied by his vahana mouse with sweets, both rendered in fine relief. Three hanging oil lamps are suspended above the figures within an ornate arched architectural surround, with the legend '1oz 9999 SILVER' arcing across the upper field and 'happy diwali' inscribed along the lower field. The Perth Mint 'P' mintmark and designer's initials 'SR' appear in the field.
