Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of King Gustav III of Sweden with elaborately curled periwig, in high relief against a flat field. The circular legend runs along the inner border, with the engraver's signature LJUNGBERGER incused in small letters at the base of the bust.

Reverse description A fully rigged warship under sail on choppy seas occupies the central field, with a caduceus-topped stern decoration and a windswept allegorical figure to the left. The upper legend arcs around the border, while a three-line inscription in the lower exergue, separated by a horizontal line, records the location Carolicorona (Karlskrona) and the date 4 June 1779 in Roman numerals. The engraver's initials G.L. appear at the lower left of the scene.
