Obverse description Detailed architectural elevation of the Oldham Blue-Coat School in high relief, depicting a Gothic Revival building with a central entrance tower flanked by pinnacles and two symmetrical wings. The legend arcs along the upper periphery, with a commemorative inscription in the lower field recording the laying of the ceremonial stone by Thomas Barker Esqre. on April 20th 1829, and crediting Richard Lane as architect.

Reverse description Plain field bearing a multi-line inscription in raised lettering, entirely enclosed within a finely detailed laurel wreath. The text records the founding circumstances of the school, noting it was erected by public subscription and endowed by the will of Thomas Henshaw Esqr. for the maintenance and education of poor children.
