Obverse description Shakespeare seated on a rocky outcrop in high relief, flanked to the left by the Dramatic Muse holding a lyre and a laurel wreath, and to the right by the semi-draped Genius of Painting. Below the group, an inscribed tablet bears a four-line quotation from Hamlet in the field; maker's signatures M.B. SOHO and C.H. KUCHLER F. appear in small lettering at the base.

Reverse description The reverse field is occupied entirely by a multi-line dedicatory inscription in mixed typefaces, surmounted at the top by a harp entwined with an olive branch on a scroll, set within radiating sunburst rays. The date 1803 appears in the lower exergue.
