Obverse description High-relief bare bust of Sir John Moore in left-facing profile, truncated at the shoulder, occupying most of the field. The surrounding legend reads along the left and right rim, with the engraver's signature MILLS F. incuse in the lower exergue.

Obverse lettering LIEUT. GENERAL SIR J. MOORE K.B.
Reverse description A classically armoured British warrior, bearing sword and round shield, stands defiantly over the fallen body of Sir John Moore, repelling a swooping French imperial eagle in the upper right field. A grieving female figure kneels at lower left. The legend arcs across the top of the field, with the date and location inscribed in two lines in the exergue; designer's signature MUDIE D. appears below, and the engraver's signature COURIGUER SC. is along the right rim.
