Reverse description A stepped sarcophagus or tomb in the centre bears an inscribed epitaph with the subject's birth and death dates in Roman numerals; above the tomb, crossed military trophies surmounted by a flaming urn wreathed in laurel. To the left, a mourning Britannia is seated holding a spear and shield; to the right, a winged Cupid or putto leans against the tomb holding a torch. A scroll inscribed CULEDON lies at lower left. The engraver's initials I.V.N. appear in the exergue, and the legend curves around the periphery within a beaded border.
