Obverse description The obverse features two soldiers in German Waffen-SS uniforms in high relief, one wearing a steel helmet and one a peaked cap, armed with a Luger pistol and an MP 40 submachine gun. To the left, a shield badge inscribed FRANCE, and to the right a heraldic shield bearing fleurs-de-lis and a lion. The curved legend VOLONTAIRES FRANÇAIS arcs across the upper field, with the dates 1941 - 1945 in the lower exergue.

Reverse description French volunteers in the fight against communism, in 1944 they joined the 33rd Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS Charlemagne. Medal made at the Workshop of Applied Arts (RPU) in Zagreb in the early 1990s, commissioned by a high-ranking French UNPROFOR officer.
