| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the Bern coat of arms — a bear passant on a diagonal striped field — surmounted by a mural crown with a radiant Swiss cross above, all within a wreath of oak and laurel branches tied at the base. Historical dates are inscribed along the wreath and in the lower field, with the founding and commemorative dates 1191 and 1891 prominent at the bottom. The circular legend runs along the beaded border. |
