Obverse description A draped female figure personifying the city of Nancy kneels in three-quarter view, resting her arm upon the city's heraldic shield surmounted by a mural crown. Architectural landmarks of Nancy, including a Gothic gateway, are depicted in low relief in the background field. The engraver's signature appears in the lower left.

Reverse description A nude putto stands in high relief beside an ornate candelabrum topped with a flame, set against a low-relief view of the Place Stanislas in Nancy with its decorative ironwork gates visible to the right.
