| Obverse description | The upper portion of the rectangular plaquette features two runners in high relief against a plain field, flanked to the right by two enamelled heraldic shields, the upper one bearing the Belgian national flag colours and the lower one depicting a rampant lion. The lower portion displays a semicircular fan of enamelled European national flags arranged in concentric arcs, with the legend EUROPA inscribed along the inner arc and the European Communities stars motif visible at the lower right. The entire composition is set within a radiating gilt sunburst border. |
