Agricultural and maritime implements are scattered in the foreground. The legend ESSEX CONSERVATIVE FESTIVAL. arcs around the upper field, with the date MDCCCXLI in the exergue.

Reverse description The reverse features two crossed laurel branches in the centre, with a columnar arrangement of text listing the names of the ten Conservative members returned to Parliament for Essex, divided by constituency: Northern Division, Southern Division, Colchester, Maldon, and Harwich. Encircling legends around the outer border record the occasion of the public dinner at Chelmsford on 22 September 1841 and name John Jolliffe Tufnell Esq. as President.
