Reverse description The crowned Royal Arms of the United Kingdom on a heraldic shield occupies the centre of the field, flanked by two standing soldiers in full campaign kit: a Canadian soldier to the left wearing a slouch hat and carrying a rifle, and a British soldier to the right in a pith helmet holding a sword. A ribbon banner inscribed CANADA arches above, with maple leaf sprigs decorating the lower field, and the legend FOR CROWN & EMPIRE appears in the exergue. The circular legend references service IN SOUTH AFRICA 1899-1900.
