Reverse description A spread eagle facing right with wings raised, clutching an olive branch in its right talon and a bundle of arrows in its left, with a vertically striped shield on its breast, derived from the seal of the National Archives. Above the eagle, an open scroll in relief bears the Latin motto. The circular legend arcs around the upper and lower field, with the founding date of the National Archives at the base flanked by stars.
