Obverse description Helmeted bust of Britannia facing left, her helmet adorned with a lion and laurel branch, set against a finely engraved background of horizontal lines and wavy patterns. A large numeral '50' appears in high relief above the effigy, with the legend '50 YEARS OF DECIMALISATION' running around the periphery. A small Royal Mint mintmark appears below the bust in the lower field.

Reverse description The reverse features two gilt applied coin inserts depicting the obverse and reverse of the 1965 Churchill Crown: the upper disc shows the portrait of Winston Churchill with legend 'CHURCHILL', while the lower disc shows the laureate effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with legend 'ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA' and date '1965'. To the right, a standing figure of Britannia in high relief raises her right arm while holding a trident and a round shield, a lion at her feet, all set before a large colourised Union Jack flag. Floral engraving decorates the left field, with the legend '50 YEARS OF DECIMALISATION' and denomination 'ONE CROWN' inscribed in the lower exergue.
