Obverse description A complex allegorical scene in high relief depicts three standing female figures on the left representing Industry, Art (holding a lyre), and Science approaching a seated female personification of Argentina, who holds a laurel wreath and rests beside a shield and globe; a kneeling figure bearing fruit offerings is presented in the foreground. A bust of President D.F. Sarmiento appears in relief at upper right, with a mountainous landscape and ships in the background. The upper legend reads REPUBLICA ARGENTINA, with EXPOSICION NACIONAL EN CORDOBA on scrolled banners in the lower field, and the engravers' signature J.S. & A.B. WYON SC. in the exergue.
