Obverse description A panoramic view of Montreal with paddle-steamers and sailing vessels on the St. Lawrence River in the middle ground, and a cityscape with Mount Royal beyond. In the lower field, a detailed relief of the Board of Trade Building flanked by ribbon banners inscribed with its name and incorporation date. The entire design is framed by a wreath of maple leaves tied at the base, with a crowned heraldic badge at the top. The maker's signature BIRKS appears in the lower exergue.
