A ribbon banner bearing the legend 'ANNUAL CONVENTION CNA 1992 CONGRÈS ANNUEL' encircles the cartouche. Below the portrait, bilingual inscriptions identify de Maisonneuve as founder of Montreal, flanking a beaver device, with the dates '1642 1992' and 'MONTRÉAL' in the lower field.
