Obverse description Three standing armoured figures in high relief — William Tell of Uri, Werner Stauffacher of Schwyz, and Arnold of Melchtal of Unterwalden — depicted taking the Rütli Oath, their right hands joined at centre. A maker's mark or initials appear in the lower field below the group. A circular Latin legend runs along the beaded border.

Reverse description The reverse is entirely filled with heraldic shields in high relief, arranged in two concentric circles around a central Swiss cross. The outer ring contains thirteen square shields representing the thirteen cantons, and the inner ring contains seven smaller shields of the associated subject territories, all separated by decorative scrollwork. Numerals between the shields serve as a reference key.
