Obverse description The obverse depicts in high relief the circular fortress of São Lourenço da Cabeça Seca (Forte do Bugio) rising from churning waves, its detailed ashlar masonry walls, corner turrets, and central lighthouse tower with lantern and weather vane rendered with great precision. Seagulls in flight animate the field above the structure. The legend MARINHA PORTUGUESA arcs along the upper rim and DIRECÇÃO DE FARÓIS along the lower rim, with FAROL DO BUGIO inscribed in the lower right field, and maker credits CUNHARTE=Gr Adolfo and Des Mª de Lourdes flanking the fortress at mid-height.
