Below the truncations, military orders are displayed over oak and laurel branches. Maker's signature OERTEL BERLIN appears at the lower field on either side.

Reverse description A central oval cartouche surrounded by a laurel wreath bears the five-line inscription IN TREUE VEREINT SCHLAGEN WIR DEN FEIND. Above the cartouche, a trophy of arms including cannons, rifles, drums, and scrolls is depicted in high relief. The circular legend WELTKRIEG IM JAHRE 1914 runs along the upper periphery within a beaded border, with three small stars positioned at the lower field.
