Obverse descriptionFive soldiers wearing berets, standing to the front but looking left. The soldier in the middle holds binoculars, the leftmost soldier holds a rifle. They stand on a platform surrounded by a laurel wreath. The two legends follow the border, separated with stars. The mintmark for the Bayerisches Münzkontor is below the middle of the laurel wreath.

Horizontal bar below the U-Boat with wavy horizontal pattern and colourised flags of the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Canada (the old version with a red background and Union Jack, replaced in 1965 with the Tricolour and Maple Leaf). Legend around border.
