| Obverse description | Elaborate high-relief composition depicting the infant Prince Nicholas lying swaddled at center, a winged angel descending from the upper right to bestow roses upon him, with a radiant dove of the Holy Spirit above and a crown over the child's head. Flanking the central scene are the busts of Crown Prince Ferdinand and Crown Princess Marie at left, and King Carol I and Queen Elisabeth at right, all in high relief; above, three smaller busts of the prince's elder siblings are visible, with a cross under an archway in the background. In the lower field, a ribbon bearing the motto NIHIL SINE DEO flanks two heraldic shields, with an oval cartouche depicting Pelișor Castle in the exergue. |
