Obverse description The obverse features the Romanian royal eagle displayed in high relief at center, its wings spread wide and surmounted by a crown with a cross; overlaid on the eagle's body is a circular medallion bearing the right-facing bust effigy of King Carol I with the legend CAROL I REGE AL ROMANIEI around it. Two kneeling figures flank the central composition, and a ribbon cartouche at the base bears the word PACE. The peripheral legend curves along the rim reading IN AMINTIREA INALTATORULUI AVANT 1913.
