Obverse description Two seated allegorical female figures in high relief occupy the centre of the field; the figure at right raises aloft a Union Flag while the figure at left holds a banner inscribed with the names of five continents. In the background to the left, sailing ships are depicted at a quayside, and to the right, industrial machinery including a locomotive wheel is visible. The maker's signature PINCHES LONDON appears in the lower exergue.

Reverse description A detailed relief view of the west front of the 1862 International Exhibition building in London, dominated by a large central dome flanked by colonnaded wings. The legend INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION curves along the upper border, with WEST FRONT inscribed on a panel below the building, and OPENED MAY 1ST / MDCCCLXII in bold lettering in the lower field.
