Below the scene, a horizontal rule separates the exergue, which bears the inscription TRAFALGAR and the date OCT. 21. 1805. The legend ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY runs along the upper rim within a decorative ribbon border.
