| Obverse description | The obverse depicts, in high relief, a semi-nude male figure seen from behind with arms raised in a gesture of salutation or homage toward two naval warships on the horizon, rendered against a stylised sea. To the left of the figure stands a pitchfork, and at the lower centre an anvil and a plough are visible, evoking labour and the land. The bold legend 'A PÁTRIA HONRAI' occupies the right field, and the engraver's signature 'S. MACHADO' appears in the lower right exergue. |
