The field is inscribed with the names of key Verdun battle sites flanking the figure, with the dates 1916 and 1976 in relief. The circular legend around the rim reads SOIXANTIEME ANNIVERSAIRE DE LA BATAILLE DE VERDUN, and the engraver's signature R. DELAMARRE appears at the base.
