Obverse description Replica of the obverse of the New South Wales Holey Dollar, derived from a Spanish 8 Reales coin of 1796 with its centre punched out. The truncated draped bust of King Charles IV faces right in the field, with the outer legend reading CAROLUS IIII DEI GRATIA and the date 1796 at the base. An inner circular legend around the central hole reads NEW SOUTH WALES 1813, the whole piece bordered by a milled edge and an inner beaded ring.
