Obverse description The obverse features a relief depiction of a Roman aqueduct (evocative of the architectural motifs found on euro banknotes) occupying the upper field, with an outline map of Europe in the lower left. An actual 5 Euro banknote is affixed to the center of the medal. The trilingual legend curves around the upper rim, and the date flanked by two stars appears at the base.
