Reverse description
In 1942, the U.S. Navy began construction of 17 wooden hangers around the U.S. coast lines to house the K-Class blimps being used for antisubmarine coast patrol and convoy escort. Two of these hangers were built at Naval Air Station Tillamook. Construction of the two hangers was rushed to completion. Hanger `B` was the first one built and was complete in August of 1943. The second built, Hanger `A`, was completed in only 27 working days. Unfortunately, Hanger `A` was destroyed by a fire in 1992.
