The inscription - ХАРКІВ, in which the letter I is presented in the form of a candle / МІСТО ГЕРОЇВ, which divides the field of the medal into two parts, united by a common idea: in the upper part of the composition, buildings battered and mutilated by shells and bombs are depicted, in the lower one is a stylized panorama of the city with its historical monuments and the Polovtsian stone women from Mount Kremenets near Izyum, monuments of sacred art (IX-XIII centuries).
