Obverse description High-relief bare-headed bust of Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte in left-facing profile, with characteristic mustache and imperial tuft. The legend LOUIS-NAPOLEON arcs along the left rim and BONAPARTE along the right rim, with the engraver and director attributions inscribed in small lettering at the base of the bust.

Reverse description Plain field bearing a six-line commemorative inscription in raised capital letters, arranged in two groups separated by ornamental rule dividers. The text commemorates the laying of the first stone for the completion of the Tuileries and the Louvre, dated 25 July 1852. The engraver's signature CAQUE. F. appears in small letters at the bottom of the field.
