Obverse description Central field features a stylized Gothic castle with three towers enclosed within a plain square border. The keep is rendered in low relief with characteristic Leonese-Castilian medieval style, showing lateral flanking towers and battlements. The surrounding legend CASTELLE runs in the outer circular field, identifying the Castilian realm. The overall design is typical of the billon meaja coinage struck under Alfonso X, El Sabio.
