| Reverse description | A bold Greek cross occupies the central field, its arms extending to a beaded inner circle, with a six-pointed star placed in the first and fourth quarters of the cross. The remaining quarters are plain. A peripheral legend reading +TOLLETA encircles the design, identifying the mint city of Toledo. The cross and star motifs are characteristic of the Toledan monetary tradition under Alfonso VIII, rendered in the crude but vigorous style typical of hammered billon fractional coinage of the period. |
