Obverse description Central stylized tree with spreading branches, surmounted by a small cross at its apex, flanked on either side by a passant lion in low relief. The design is rendered in a crude, archaic hammered style characteristic of Leonese billon coinage of the early 13th century. The figures occupy the full field of the flan, with no surrounding legend on this side. The lions face outward from the central tree, their forms highly schematic.
