Obverse description Central field bears a two-line Arabic legend reading 'Sultan Selim' in raised hammered script, enclosed within a single circular border. The flan is irregular and slightly broader than the die, characteristic of hammered copper coinage of the Ottoman provincial series. The lettering is boldly struck but shows weakness at the periphery consistent with hand-struck production. The field is flat and unadorned, with no additional decorative elements.
